Flint Cottage

A luxury self-catering cottage in the South Downs National Park

A beautifully furnished dog-friendly holiday cottage in historic Alfriston

A cottage that has been thoughtfully renovated to retain its period details, with antique touches, and a living space designed with relaxation in mind. The cottage features a beautiful hand-built hardwood kitchen, with butler sink, brass taps and an Aga cast iron oven. To complement the oven there is an Aga stove in the sitting room to warm up those cold winter evenings.

The bedrooms feature floral wallpapers by Flora Roberts, with original antique Victorian brass beds and a beautifully designed Art Deco bathroom / wet room. In the summer months we have a courtyard garden that offers privacy and warmth enclosed by the traditional flint walls of the area. The cottage also features that rare thing in Alfriston, a private car parking space.

An impossibly cosy East Sussex holiday rental for short breaks and longer stays for up to four persons.

Flint Cottage dates back to the early 1800s, and more probably beyond. It has been the subject of a recent careful restoration by a team of skilled builders and craftsmen to create a luxurious self-catering holiday cottage in the heart of the historic village of Alfriston, nestled in the South Downs National Park.

This is a place to feel the rhythms of village life, with its many pubs and restaurants, little artisan shops, antique shops and a world class book shop that is less than a minute’s walk away.

The wider landscape is the majestic South Downs National Park, with its rolling hills and breathtaking coastline, so beloved by the Bloomsbury set and artists like Eric Ravillious. This is a world away from modern life as we know it, Flint Cottage offers an authentic cottage and village experience surrounded a sublime landscape that has been cherished and revered for centuries.

‘With a national park, vineyard and one of England’s greatest coastlines on its doorstep, the Sussex village of Alfriston has it all.’ - Daily Telegraph

HISTORY OF FLINT COTTAGE

A grade II listed historic cottage, that dates all the way back to the 1700s.

It is located on the iconic North Street in Alfriston, where in past times the street was known locally as ‘up the bricks’ due to there being a brickworks further up the road.

Flint Cottage now offers luxury holiday cottage accommodation in the heart of the South Downs National Park.

‘Flint Cottage surpassed all expectations and we had a really memorable time here.

Every detail is so thoughtfully designed, with such character and coherence.’
