March 2026

As we rejoice at the long-awaited arrival of Spring and gaze adoringly at the daffodils in full bloom, we think of warmer days and longer evenings with relish. There is much to be thankful for a visit to an Alfriston holiday cottage.

Yes, we are now into March, and the clocks will soon be going forward, signalling the start of the Spring equinox. There is much to look forward to.

This coming weekend Mother’s Day arrives, and the tearooms and restaurants of the surrounding landscape will be very busy indeed. On North Street, we have badgers tea house, which is really lovely with a fantastic courtyard garden, if the weather is kind. There are, of course, numerous dining choices in the village and wider area. Enjoy.

If arts and literary festivals are your thing, then do look up Charleston Farmhouse’s website, as they have all the details for their upcoming literary festival, which starts on the 13th May and runs until the 25th May.

Similarly, the Glyndebourne Festival gets underway on the 21st May and runs until the 30th August. This is a very popular operatic festival and a quintessentially English event on the calendar. Tickets sell fast, so don’t delay.
