Bringing Your Dog To Flint Cottage

A dog-friendly holiday cottage in the South Downs

A South Downs National Park Holiday Cottage With Your Dog

Everyone loves their dogs right ? Well, we feel the same here about our own particular little fur ball, Ralph, our seven year old Tibetan Terrier.

The landscape of the South Downs is just made for dog walks, so we have tried to make sure that Flint Cottage is a proper dog-friendly holiday cottage. When you arrive at Flint Cottage you will find a traditional dog bed, crafted from handwoven seagrass, for your four-legged friend to curl up in, plus a little box of oatie snacks for treat time. In the courtyard garden, we have installed a hot and cold water tap, complete with a mixer sprinkler, and a tin bath to wash down your pet. We have also supplied two Barbour dog towels to dry down - plus two enamel dog bowls for food and water.

There are lots of options for walks, too many to list, but one of our favourites is the walk from the Long Man of Wilmington car park, where you can ascend to the top of the Long Man itself and complete a circular once at the top. For a shorter walk, you can walk through Wilmington church and cross the fields to Milton Street, where there is an excellent pub, The Sussex Ox, which is one of our favourites. This is a flat walk and about two miles in length, through mostly rapeseed fields, and takes in views of the Long Man from a slight distance. Beautiful !

If you’re stuck for a walk - or would like suggestions, then we’re always here to help.
